Grand Theft Auto V Street Races are unlocked only by Franklin who can talk to a Stranger and Freak named Hao. Hao appears only on Franklin’s map, after the Pulling Favors Towing mission, which can be completed early in the game. Since Hao competes in illegal street races, his icon can be observed only during the night.

His location is close to Franklin’s first safe house. Unlike other Strangers and Freaks in GTA 5, for Hao you can complete only one side-mission, named Shift Work, and the following guide offers hints and tips that can help you get the gold medal and a 100 % completion.

At the end of the mission, even if you don’t get 100% completion, you will be able to see on your map all locations where the illegal street races take place.

These locations, just like Hao, appear on your map, only during the night; therefore, if you want to enter a street race but you can’t see its location, make sure you fast forwards the time until the sun sets down. You can fast forward the time by 6 hours when you save your game.

GTA 5 includes five illegal street races you can enter, and these competitions are a great way to earn some money, but to enter one of them you have to pay a series of fees.

Wining an illegal street race depends on your driving skills and how you use Franklin’s ability. The Grand Theft Auto V Street Races count if you want to get 100% completion at the end of the game.

Brings NPC/AI cars/traffic paths, single player Community Races and Street Races to work on Van123's Nurburgring Nordschleife HQ map. The Nurburgring Nordschleife HQ map covers a huge area and is a pain to make it work but it's worth it in the end.

When you decide to enter a street race make sure that you own a powerful car, on which you have installed the latest mods.

One illegal street race; however, requires you to own a bike.

The rewards for winning a street race range from $450 to $6750, depending on how difficult the race is.

Shift Work Mission Walkthrough

GTA 5 Shift Work is the mission you get from Hao if you visit him as Franklin and during the night. Assuming that you have completed Pulling Favors, you will find Hao’s location on your map if you look for a green exclamation mark.

Before going to see Hao, make sure you get the fastest car you have in Franklin’s garage. As you approach Hao, you will be challenged to enter an illegal street race. Get in your car and follow him to the location where the race takes place.

Move your car close to the yellow circle on the ground and wait for the race to start. Franklin is a skilled driver and his ability plays a vital role during every race you enter; however, your skills are more important, especially if you wish to complete Shift Work on gold.

The moment to race starts, you have to be aware that if you stay close to the opponent in front of you, he will drag your car, but staying too close is dangerous if the opponent makes a mistake, because you will not be able to avoid a possible collision. You are allowed to hit their cars as many times as you want, if you don’t aim for the gold medal, but you are not allowed to hit them or any other obstacles for more than 5 times if you want to get the Clean Race objective.

The said objective is probably the hardest to get; therefore, try to take the lead as soon as you get on a straight line.

Use the breaks if you can avoid a collision and always use Franklin’s ability when taking a difficult turn. Activate it by pressing the left and right thumbsticks at the same time, and when you exit a curve, deactivate it to save the ability for later use. Another aspect you have to be aware of is that if the opponents can drag you, you are also able to drag them, so use the rearview to make sure you don’t help them. If an opponent is behind you, try to move left and right to lose him.

The remaining two objectives (Fastest Lap and Underdog) can be achieved at the same time if you finish the race in less than 2:50 minutes, since there are two laps and for the Fastest Lap objective you have to finish a lap in less than 1:20 minutes.

Mathematically, if you complete the Underdog objective, you will also complete the Fastest Lap.

Street Races is a Hobby & Pastime for Franklin in IGN's Grand Theft Auto 5Walkthrough. This guide will highlight the main mission strategies and Gold Medal requirements needed to complete every main story mission. Check out more of IGN's GTA5Walkthrough for info on Cheats, Easter Eggs, Strangers and Freaks and a lot more.

Street Races become available to Franklin after completing the Strangers & Freaks missionShift Work for Hao. Two street races are available at the beginning and the rest are unlocked via text message from Hao after completing them. Races are only available in the evenings from 20:00 until daylight.

To start a race, approach the racers sitting at the location on the map and then press Right on the D-pad to begin. Each race will have an entrance fee, so be sure to have the money ready! Unlike the Shift Workmission, these races have NO Gold requirements so you'll just need to win 3rd, 2nd, or 1st place.

It is highly recommended that you Mod Franklin's car to the max before doing these races. Go to Los Santos Customs and outfit his car with the best wheels, suspension, engine, transmission, spoilers, etc. and you'll be more than ready to outrace your competition.

STREET RACE: SOUTH LOS SANTOS
[edit]

The South Los Santos Race is the SAME exact race that was done in the 'Shift Work' mission only without the Gold requirements.

There are several sharp turns and the first one will determine what position you'll be in. With a fully modded car, you should be able to get to top position before you reach the first sharp turn. Lightly brake and turn and then continue on the path. There is one more deadly sharp turn at the Xero gas station, so be sure to slow up a bit and make the turn.

With some careful sharp turns, you should be able to win this race as easily as you did in the 'Shift Work' mission. Remember, you MUST win this race again along with the City Circuit Race to unlock the Airport race!

STREET RACE: CITY CIRCUIT
[edit]

The City Circuit Race is located in Vinewood Hills and spans nearly the entire city within ONE lap.

When the race starts, cut corners at the first right turn to gain top position. If done correctly, you should be in 1st place within the first 20 seconds! Keep an eye on the checkpoints and don't speed too fast or you'll slip. When you get to the Vespucci Beach area, there will be several sharp turns that can throw you off, so keep a hand on the brake so that you don't crash!

The race is pretty lengthy so keep the pedal to the metal and you should win 1st place easily.

STREET RACE: AIRPORT
[edit]

To unlock the Airport race, you MUST complete the first two races. After a day or so, Hao will send you a text message confirming a race at the LS Airport later in the evening. Make your way to the race in the evening and bring the $1000 entrance fee to start the race.

The Airport route contains several narrow entrances and some tricky sharp turns. With some careful maneuvering, you should be able to get into top position just before you exit the freeway towards the Maze Bank Arena. The tricky sharp turn occurs when you reach the railroad tracks in Strawberry, so use a hard brake and then turn.

When you return to the airport area, stay on the RIGHT side (the departure lane) and then make the circular turn and back down to the arrivals lane down below for the win.

STREET RACE: FREEWAY
[edit]

After completing the Airport race, Hao sends you another text message with another location for a race. This time the race is located in the La Mesa area and the entrance fee is $1250.

Getting into top position will require some tricky driving and dirty shoving. When the race starts, the two starting cars will get ahead early. When you reach the first freeway exit, cut corners at the sharp left turn to gain top position easily.

Gta 5 100% Checklist

The race is fairly straightforward though the only trcky turn is towards the end of the lap where the checkpoint is in the MIDDLE of the freeway pointing you to drive across lanes (see screencap above).

Other than the checkpoint that leads to the other lane (you'll know it when you see it), getting 1st place in this race shouldn't be difficult.

STREET RACE: VESPUCCI CANALS
[edit]

Gta 5 Street Race Mission For Devin Weston

The fifth and final race is a motorcycle race that zooms through the streets of Vespucci Beach. It is recommended that you purchase (or steal) a Pegassi Bati 801 motorcycle and then tune it up at LS Customs to have Max Speed and Max Acceleration. When you've got the souped up bike, race it!

When the race starts, push the Left Analog Stick forward so that Franklin shifts his weight to the front of the bike. This will give Franklin a slight boost in acceleration and get him to the front of the pack within the first 15 seconds (see screencap above)!

The area that will most likely cause some problem is the Promenade shopping center area where Franklin has to squeeze through a long narrow lane. Release the throttle just a bit to slow down and navigate through the narrow lanes to avoid smashing against any walls (and to not waste any Special abilities).

As you reach the last couple of checkpoints, there is a super sharp left turn just before the starting point. Be sure to brake early to avoid crashing and then make the left turn and zoom past the bridge.

With a fast bike and some quick driving skills, getting first place for this race should be a breeze.

Gta 5 Street Race 4 Not Showing Up

Congrats, you've completed ALL five Street Races! After completing the Vespucci Canals race, Hao gives Franklin a call to congratulate him.
