Go into your game directory and open the 'music' folder. There should be songs that get played in the game. Before you do anything, copy the folder and paste it and rename it to 'music_old' just in case you screw something up (unlikely but better safe than sorry).

ADD NEW SONGS
Iron

There are 4 majors steps into adding music to your game, first you need to find the song, YouTube has lots of soundtracks from other games or movies. Next is downloading, then converting with Audacity (free) and finaly editing the files to make the game play them.

There are multiple nice songs from War games like World in Conflict or Company of Heroes. Then you can use Youtube-mp3.org to download the music.

  • Download the music

  • Open the file on Audacity

  • Click on File and Export Audio and select Ogg Vorbis in file type

  • Save the file inside the 'music' folder

MAKING THE GAME PLAY THE SONGS

There are 2 files that handle the way music is played throughout the game. '*songs.txt' and '*music.asset'. The first one handle when the songs should play, for example at war or peace and for who, axis, comintern or allies. The second tells the game what are the files and gives them nicknames, for example a file could be called 'audio.ogg' and within 'songs.txt' called 'general_war_1'.

Now say we want to add a song for the axis at war

We open 'music.asset' file first and scroll down to #Axis and we add this code just after the '}'. So it looks like this.

A = the name we will refer the song as to in 'songs.txt'
B = the file name
C = the volume at which it plays. always 0.65

Now time to add it to 'songs.txt' so that we can make it play for the axis during war.
We should have a file that looks like this.

A = the name we gave the song in 'asset.music'
B = the chance it has to play, careful with this one or it might play on loop if set too high
C = check if the player is at war
D = check if the player is fascist

That is all! Now your songs will play during gameplay along with the game's fabulous soundtrack. Funniest part is you can add a whole loads of 'em, and you can make sure certain songs play for certain situation, wouldn't want a war song playing when you just started the game or a sad piano song when you're at war. Have fun! Share some songs if you have any that would sound nice within the game.
